Thermopylae, a mountain pass delineated by the Phocian Wall on one side and the Aegean Sea on the other, measured the width of two carts abreast, negating the Persian numerical advantage. Great piles of Persian dead choked the pass by the end of the 9th. WebbAlso the map of the area around the pass itself could be better, notwithstanding the change in terrain between then and now; I didn't really get a proper vision of how the pass related to the Phocian wall for example. A reconstruction might have been helpful. (Also in passing, some of the maps and diagrams have had their labelling switched.)
